Who maintains MCPizy, and how a server gets listed

MCPizy is an independent directory and comparison layer for Model Context Protocol servers. It carries 456 servers today, with the install path for each client, the evidence that exists for each server, and a written reason whenever a submission is turned down.

Who runs it

MCPizy is built and maintained by Hugo Berton, an independent developer based in Aix-en-Provence, France. Articles signed on this site are written and reviewed here; the facts in them come from the vendor’s own documentation, its source repository, or the CheckMCP audit, and the reading date is given in the text.

The directory takes no investment, runs no display advertising, and has no ranking that can be bought. It also has no revenue: listing is free, and there is no paid tier at all.

What gets listed, and what gets turned down

Every submitted server is checked against four bars:

  1. It is an MCP server — it speaks the Model Context Protocol and starts from a documented command or endpoint, not a wrapper page describing one.
  2. It can be installed — the install path is documented for at least one client (Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf) and works at the time of review.
  3. Its source is reachable — a public repository or official documentation we can read, so a reader can verify what the listing says.
  4. It is honest— no undisclosed data collection, no credentials shipped in the open, no “free” listing that requires a card before the server will start.

A rejected submission gets the reason in writing. Nothing was charged for it.

What a CheckMCP grade proves

Where an audit exists, its grade is published as measured, low grades included. Where none exists, the listing says so instead of implying the server is safe. A missing field is an unknown — never a zero, never a pass.

A linked repository gives you something to inspect; on its own it proves neither maintenance, nor security, nor licence quality, nor compatibility with your client. Those need their own evidence, and a date.

Nothing can be bought here: not review speed, not placement, not a grade, not a factual profile, not an editorial comparison, not an organic ranking.
